Hello! I am Kim Ortiz, the owner/director of Tender Heart Preschool. Tender Heart is my passion and has been in operation since 2005. We are a 4-star city- and state-licensed program. We are unique because the preschool is run out of my home. This program offers personal attention to each child based on their needs in a comfortable home environment. I find it a privilege to help children make a smooth transition into kindergarten. I have worked with children of many different ages for over 16 years, and find that preschool-aged children are my favorite! Children are my passion and I love having the opportunity to work with them and impact their lives. I love their sense of curiosity and the fullness of life they bring to school!
Hello, My name is April Chavez. This will be my first year at Tender Heart Preschool. I have my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and have worked with children for over ten years. It has always been my passion to teach. I love the small environment at Tender Heart Preschool and I am looking forward to interacting with each child and their families on a much more personal level. I am very excited to help your child learn and prepare them for Kindergarten!
Teachers Role & Responsibilities
Each teacher is required to have a minimum 45-hour course in child development, 6-hour course in inclusion as well as be CPR/First Aid certified. We are also required to complete 12 hours of continual training in early childhood each school year. Each teacher will have a genuine love and passion for preschool-aged children and have a desire to provide this age group with a strong foundation. Each teacher will provide an atmosphere conducive to the natural curiosity and exploring of preschool-aged children, and have a strong desire to make the first away-from-home learning experience memorable for the child and parent! Teachers will provide a safe, exciting, non-biased, educational environment suitable for learning.
