Mission Statement
Tender Heart Preschool promises to provide an educational, hands-on, fun and caring environment to all students. Your children will always have well trained, loving teachers to help in the growth and development of their education. We believe that children learn best through play and the opportunity to make choices. Our program encourages parental involvement. Our preschool is unique because it is home-based and there are smaller class teacher/child ratios which means your children receive more one-on-one time. We are a school where teaching comes from the heart.
Philosophy
We believe that children learn the best through play and hands-on activities in an environment that creates learning and exploration. We believe that when children are in a safe and loving environment they learn better. We believe that rules and limits must be understood and consistent. We also believe that children respond very well to warm caring teachers that are well-trained professionals. The goal in education is to create knowledge for understanding. Preschoolers have the right to learn at their own pace.
Curriculum Statement
Experimenting and exploring are done on a daily basis, so that the child’s curiosity is constantly being stimulated. The teachers are actively working with the children during circle time, table activities, arts and crafts, outside or inside free choice time, one-on-one time, and snack time.
When we are teaching the alphabet we learn it in sign language, too. We learn our colors and shapes in both English and Spanish. We also learn to count to 10 in Spanish. We believe theme-based teaching is a wonderful way in which to teach children, because it incorporates all the days’ activity toward one theme. It helps to reinforce what they are learning. Playing and fun structured activities are the main focus of a child’s learning up to age five. During free playtime they are actively playing with their classmates and given daily choices to make. Teachers are there to make sure there is guidance in solving social situations. Tender Heart Preschool has designed it’s own curriculum.
