Tender Heart Class Hours and Age Requirements:
Pre-K Full Day
Child must be age four and the last year before Kindergarten

Pre-K Class Goals

Reinforce socialization skills with other children (sharing, taking turns, communicating desires or needs, making friends)

Reinforce positive interaction with new adults (teachers)

Learn how to be an advocate for themselves

Reinforce independents within the preschool setting (Crafts, bathroom, snacks, lunches, play)
•
Will have many opportunities to strengthen fine motor skills (3 finger grasp)

Will have many opportunities to strengthen gross motor skills
Expose and teach child to:

Letters A-Z (recognition, sign language, sounds & writing)
•
Numbers (verbal counting1-50) (recognition 1-30 & writing 1-10)
•

Shapes
•
We also learn numbers1-20, colors, shapes, and the days of the week in Spanish

First and last name recognition
•
Writing first and last name
•
Introduce phone numbers and how to write it

We also will be learning during our songs, stories, themes, baking projects, and science

Tender Heart Daily Schedule for the Pre-K Full Day Class
9:00-9:15 - We begin greeting all our classmates and parents while getting settled in doing table activities.
9:20-9:45 - Circle time begins: a story is read, a song is sung and exploring is done based on our theme. We go over the calendar, discuss the weather, the alphabet, counting, colors, and shapes. We do our theme-based Pre-k lesson for the week.
9:50-10:30 – Table activities offered: alphabet, writing, coloring, fine motor strengthening, games, math, puzzles, play dough, free art and lots of exploring.
10:35-10:55 – Snack time: we practice good manners and enjoy visiting with each other while we eat our snacks.
11:00-11:40 – Arts and crafts: We do a craft pertaining to the day’s lesson. At least once a month we do a small baking project pertaining to the lesson, and do age appropriate science experiments.
11:45-12:15 – Outside or inside free choice areas:
Inside areas: we can look at books in the library, make a delicious meal or do some cleaning up in the dramatic play, we can make all sorts of animals come to life or build the most amazing structures while in the block area.
Outside areas: large body movement fun begins, we crawl, hop, jump, do some tumbling, relay races, and play with a large parachute. We can also play in the sand, ride a tricycle, pull a wagon, play with balls, go down the slide, ride the teeter-totter, and swing. During this time we are interacting socially and problem solving.
12:15-12:30 – Circle time/wash up for lunch. A story is read and/or a song is sung as the children take turns washing up for lunch.
12:30-1:00 - Lunch Time. Eat our lunches, and practice good manners and enjoy visiting with each other.
1:00-1:15 - Clean up our lunch mess. Put lunch boxes away, and wash up and potty.
1:20-1:45 – Quiet rest time. We quietly lay on the carpet and listen to soothing music.
1:50-2:25 – Free choice time. Outside or inside - free choice areas or table activities.
2:30-2:45 – End of the day circle time and good-bye. We clean up whatever mess we have made and say good-bye for the day! We read one more story or sing a song or do a finger play while waiting for parents to arrive.
Pre-school
Children must be completely potty trained and age three by August 31st of current school year
